two short poems
Both poems are beautiful, as usual, but Matins is stunning. Not a word or line wasted.
Thank you! 🙏
Particularly liked Matins because I can relate to that.
I heard that bird this morning, heralding the sun like a rooster, only far more melodic ... as clear as glass. Mercy, Joseph. You nailed the sound.
Thank you for reading, Sue!
Your poems consider the lilies and so do mine. We're a rare breed, man.
Two beautiful poems. I’ve just subscribed.
Is “Undersong” a reference to Mark Van Doren’s poem of the same title? Love that one. Whitman-esque its sheer enjoyment of this moment, now—like your own.
I was listening to an album by Simone Dinnerstein titled Undersong (classical piano) before I wrote the poem.
"Chants a line as clear as glass"
Yes ❤️🔥 🤌🫠
Love short poems, and you choose every word so perfectly!!!
Thanks!
Your writing is lovely, Joseph. Glad we crossed paths.
I love them both!
‘My body, alive in the thrill of bewilderment.’ Writing poetry is how I make sense of bewilderment.
Brief and utterly exquisite! Thank you, Joseph.🙌🏽
