Brilliant to take us past the "shuttered Bank of America" to "see starlings expand and collapse

like lungs exhaling dusk."

These two very profound images of give and take, rise and fall, match our steps and our breath on this circadian walk. So fine.

I love the contrasting images of your vocabulary: bewilderment- fatigue; static- speech; lucent- shattered; shocks and horror-hollows.expand- collapse and the end of the poem -- "a long silence" as our bliss "if we'll let it to find us" Very interesting. I love poetry and write about Russian poetry, which is somehow different in composition and rhythm. Beautiful photo.

Thank you, Sally Newland for noticing and liking my comment. I guess, we both love poetry. I can send you, if you like, on your post one poem of my favorite Russian poet in my modest translation. I am just curious if you like it or not. Larisa

Massey's poetry should be contrasted with Carl Sandburg's. Where has America gone?

I think Massey's poetry should be compared to that of Carl Sandburg - like for instance "Chicago."'

It shows where we have gone in the intervene.
