I love the allusion to calligraphy and writing in this poem. It's true how ice records the passage of summer with the leaves and twigs

I can’t help but think that the calligraphy of past skaters is one way of creations trying to connect with us. But it seems very kind that the sticks and twigs poking through offer another (braille-like) means of communication
